Door Seals

Can someone give me a bit of advice on front door seals. I am trying to line up my doors having replaced the front panel, steps and inner and outer arches. Looks great with a gap around the outside fairly constant and door opens and shuts OK (no latch on yet though). When i put the seal on though the door seems to bind and spring back, unless I position it so that the 'flappy' bit of the seal lies flat against the door itself and then it seems to shut ok. I dont think this is the right way for the seal to fit though, as i think the 'flap' should stick up slightly and then compress against the outer edge of the door pillar - if anyone can understand where i'm coming from!! Trouble is the van came without seals so i've nothing to check it against and i hadn't come accross the the problem at the last show i went too!! The seals are from A Schofield and if they are anything like the quality of other stuff i've bought from there i'd have thought they'd be OK.
