can someone please tell me if i can hand paint or roller the pop top roof on our westy and what sort of paint to use thanks.

can someone please tell me if i can hand paint or roller the pop top roof on our westy and what sort of paint to use thanks.

When we owned a 1972 Westy, we repainted the roof and the result was excellent. How?

First we scrubbed the roof with a stiff brush and "Jif" (now known as something else "Cif"?) to remove all the ground-in dirt. Then using light wet&dry paper we went over the roof carefully.

When totally dry we sprayed the roof with white hammerite.

Finally new Westfalia stickers and it looked like new.

It lasted years and up until we sold the van. No doubt it's still looking good!
