Brake wear warning light on 2000 T4

Hi, we have a problem with the brake wear warning light coming on after renewing the front pads.
2 questions:
Is it possible to stop the light coming on? I've tried disconnecting the wires but it still lights and sounds the warning.
Is it normal only to have the wires on the nearside (UK)?

Only the nearside front has the sensor, usually the lead cracks and sounds the bell, check carefully and repair as needed ;) to stop the noise, jion the wires

or try and put a piece of wire from 1 side to the other of the sensor and bypassing it. worked with mine when pads were put on without the sensor in them.
