Hi we are thinking of touring Italy in the summer in our M reg bay and was wondering if any of you have been there done that already and have any useful tips or advise we could use. :)
Ive only dipped a toe in Italy, having travelled along the South East French coast .... we went St Tropez, NIce, Cannes, Monaco, Menton then over into Latte. The coast line turned a bit rocky and we yearned for the sand on the Riveriera, so went back at that point, having acheived a border.
Essentially though, get knowledgabel, serviced and take essental tools and spares.
Get breakdown cover and insurance, comply with the leaglities .... and enjoy!
Dont plan too much, just go with the flow. :)

Am just doing the Feb mag..there is a feature in that about re-tracing the Mille Miglia rally route which gives a flavour of what Italy offers...

We thought much harder to find good campsites in Italy than in France, no tradition of the old 'Camping Municipales' which are such good value. We ended up doing too much driving really...if you find somewhere you like, stay for a while, as it may take some time to find another ! Get a map with campsites marked up on it.
If you find yourself on the Amalfi peninsula, try finding 'Beati Solitudo' campsite in a village above the coast...good base for visiting Naples, and very nice family business.
Watch out for the golden rule of Italian driving: if you're in front, you've got priority (doesn't matter how you got there).
