space saver spare wheel

Does any one use a space saver spare wheel? you know the thing thing with the solid tyre. want to mount it under my van to 'save some space'.

I have always regarded them as a highly developed bad idea. Some folks call them a cripple spare, because a car doesn't sit straight with one. We had 2 bay Westies at different times and both had the spare on a bracket on the front. Worked well.
