hi everybody,
we´re in brasil at present and have been travelling round in a 1986 combi that we brought in recife, a port in north east brasil, and proceeded to customise by doing loads of repairs, replacing the brakes system, clutch, battery and tyres.
we´ve just splashed out on a 1994 reconditioned engine, as the old one was rather tired. problem is, something went wrong with it, and we´ve had to spend another unexpected 300 pounds on repairs- it now works like new. our original plan was to ship the van back to england and use it for a while there before selling it next year.
trouble is, now we have very little money left, and we have to be sure that we can make some back on eventual, perhaps sooner rather than later sale.
therefore i´d like some opinions on how much it might go for, if you please.
models here are a bit different, with windows all the way round, including at the corners, a 15-window model, which i think is rather attractive. as i´ve said, the brakes, tyres and battery are brand new, engine running brilliantly now, and no rust problems except for a small patch around top right hand side of back door. we´ve had some welding done, whcih they didn´t bother filing or painting over, so it looks a bit of a mess- just two small spots on the edges of the boot door, inside.
conversion is basic, with wood panneling and hampers, and the front is not panneled, just metal in footwells
how much do you think such a vehicle would go for? basically it is strong, and mechanically good, without english frills we are accustomed to.
any advice welcome
thanks very much, rosie

Hi
I was recently in Natal ..... great place!

The value in UK? Not a great deal really. People are very wary of Brazilian imports due to the build quality, and from what Ive seen, its the extras from DMC that make them desireable.
Youll get stung for vat and import charges, and the shipping will be at least £1500, so Id 'doubt' it would be financially viable. I guess as its 10+ yrs old you wont have to get it SVA tested though, so thats one bonus.
