Hi
I have a '71 Bay with 1 battery, 240v hookup. Accessories running on the current engine battery are: radio, some internal lighting.
I'm looking at installing a leisure battery to power the following:
- Very small fridge (15L, which has a 12v or 240v connection). I want to use the fridge when without hookup, though, so would prefer it to be connected to the leisure battery.
- Extra lighting
- Possibly move the stereo system over to the leisure battery
Are there any heaters that will run just on the leisure battery - or is running a heater a strict no-no from the point of view of power consumption?
I'm planing on fitting a fuse box with room for about 6 accessories.
Can anyone recommend the size battery I need to fit for all this. Weight is an issue as I don't want anything to big and heavy.
I intend to insall a split charge relay to charge up the second battery whilst on the move. However, is there also a way that I can charge up the leisure battery whilst on 240v hookup OR switch accessories over to use just 240v with a 240v to 12v convertor when on 240v hookup.
The other thing is that I'm not actually sure if I have a dynamo fitted or an alternator and realise that I may need to upgrade to an alternator if I want to charge 2 batteries. I've attached a pic - can anyone tell me what I've got? If I need to upgrade, what sized alternator should I get?
