Hi all,
I'm asking on behalf of a friend who's fed up with her aircooled engine as any sort of speed is an effort, and it's started playing up badly and won't idle or run at low revs. I'm not a camper expert by any means, but I do know a lot about basic engine tuning and repair (having built my own engine for my car) and I'm stumped as to why it won't run right.
Basically I'm wondering what the popular choices are for engine transplants? Thinking along the lines of a 1.6 Vauxhall 4-pot or something, but I'm well aware of vertical height restrictions. Preferrably something petrol and changing the tranny isn't really an option. How difficult is making a bellhousing adapter?
It's not got to bee a speed demon but being able to cruise happily at 60 would be nice :D .
Unfortunately a subaru engine is a bit out of the question as the cost of the engine and the insurance is prohibitive, but I have driven one and t doesn't half shift!
Any way, I digress. Any help greatfully received.
Regards
Tom.
