I am selling a 1973 Bay window 1600cc VEGE engine, devon conversion, pop top sleeps 4.
This is a project that i started but unfortunatly never managed to finish due to a current lack of time.
SInce i bought the van for £2000 in 2002 i have spent well over £2500 on it, this includes a brand new VEGE engine which i've been told are the only new engines worth buying, i hope this is true since it cost a few bob. It was professionally fitted and i have kept the new engine certificate, it has only done 500 miles of which was when i was breaking it in (going very slowly).
Other work i have had done is to the outriggers, the clutch, somthing to do with the suspension, 3 new tyres, break repairs and lots more i really cannot remember what. I have kept most of the reciepts.
I took the van into my garage a while back to sand it down and give it a new paint job which i never finished, most of the van is down to bare metal but is covered up. The van is completely stripped down ie. the windows are out, the seats and fittings have been removed, i have kept every thing labeled so it shouldn't be a problem putting it back together again.
There is rust in the usual type 2 places i.e wheel arches, lower area of the sliding door, and rear corner panels. I have had a quote for the welding including the repair panels for £400, then it would be structually sound and ready for a spray job. The van won't start at the moment but i have been informed that all it needs is a new starter motor which you can pick up for around £40.
It is a lovely van but just needs some tlc, so for not much money and some effort you could have an extremely nice camper in your posession. This is a perfect project for the winter and could easily be ready for cruising next springtime.

I am asking £1400 for it taking into consideration the current condition of it and all the new parts it's had and new engine with such little milage. I am willing to take offers.

I have tried to be as accurate as possible but there is probably somthing i have forgotten to mention , if you need any information on it i am more than happy to help you. If you want any pictures of it or of any specific part of it i can nip down into my garage and whip out my digi cam and email you a pic.

I will be very sorry to see it go as i have grown very attatched to it and have had much fun with it. Two conditions of selling are that the name 'Bilbo' stays with it and that when it is completed i get to see a photo of it!
