Trouble Engaging 1st Gear

I have a 1966 splitscreen, and have serious trouble getting into first gear. Does any body have any ideas why this could be. Is it time for a re-con gear box. If so where would I be able to get one from.

Check the gear-linkage couplings first, they are cheap to replace, fairly easy to do. New joints and fresh grease might do the trick. Not sure if it might be the gearstick too if that is worn, but a gearbox change would be last on the list and a bigger job to replace. although gearbox oil change would be a good idea too.

1st thing ajust the cluch cable by turning the butter fly screw its under the van be hind the engin in a pig of a place up top if that dont fix it then go on to the linkages the good news it not your g box
