Hey guys,
I've just won a lovely wee Bay Campervan on EBay, and wondered if anyone could help me with two things:
1. How much would it be to respray (the same colour as front bumper)
2. How would I go about getting a standard plug socket in the main bit of the van to plug in things?
This is my first VW and I am a complete newbie so forgive me for such basic questions! I will be having the upholstery redone (new covers for cab seats and r'n'r' bed).
Any thoughts?
Thank you!
PS You can see the van here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160186805004&_trksid=p3907.m32&_trkparms=tab%3DWatching#onPhotoChoice :D

You sound like me! i got my camper last month and have been asking the same questions.
I just had a quote for a respray and a bit of body work for £2000! but the price will vary dependant on who does it, what you want done.
To gain an electric hook up you require an EHU (electric hook up) unit. This is belive can be done by an autoelectrician (most garages know one!) and will cost about £80 for the unit and then whatever the fitting costs. I have seen the EHU units cheaper on the internet though just by searching around.
I need lots of work doing on mine really and just dont know where to start!
Lovely though eh!?

Well 2K is not bad, 2b honest i thought this was rather expensive, complete restoration is only any good if the camper is going to be garaged, fact you cant stop rot unless you cut it out ok, hence complete renovation, but you do all that and odds on it can start to come through else where.
In my opinion unless its garaged, then dont waste your money, just have a cheap job done and this will last a few years.
I brought a T25 a year ago for £1,400 and im now upto £4,500 and this is without the bodywork been done, no point restoring it as i cant garage it so it will be left outside. The UK is very wet and damp so even if you tackle the rot and rust it will be comming through else where.
I used to restore E-type jags, mg's and tr's, to get these things restored we used to completly strip them down to the shell and then have them sand blasted all over, this is the only true way to completly restore.
