I have just bought a 1984 T25 VW Campervan. How do I find out if it needs additive to the unleaded petrol?
The Haynes manual says only if built before January 1984, and my van is registered end of October 1984, yet the person who sold it to me said I must put additive in to every tankful, as did the person who had it previously.
And can I find out when my camper was actually built as opposed to registered?
If it is a model that doesn't require additive, has adding it all these years done any harm?

I have searched the forum and found out something about the subject being discussed a couple of years ago, but nothing definitive. Some posts say absolutely no need to put additive in any VW Camper, as the valves are hard enough. But Haynes say you should, who presumably got this from VW.
Does anyone have any sound knowledge of this?
