will a 1303 beetle engine fit my 76' camper?

hi all ,
i have just bought a 76 camper to find out the so called recon was not as good as i hope affter blowing up the next day :mad: !
so i have got a 1303 1600cc single port out of a beetle intending to just wip out the old and bang in a new one, but affter speaking to my dad he is not so sure !!!
please please can some one advise me if trying to put it in is going to be a good or bad idea!

Single ports arent the best, but will do the job. A 1303 should be a twin port, though?

It will fit, you'll need a bracket to mount the support bar, and use the different tinware and exhaust from the defunct engine.
