Hi there
I'm totally new to this game and really need help with a few good pointers from those of you with experience.
I'm looking for a van to convert (perhaps myself) and am unsure which model i should start with. The current shortlist being a T4 or an LT28 (for the extra headheight). If i opted for the T4 do you recommend a pop-top. Is this a nice to have or is it a real bonus? Is a pop-top a lot colder than a purpose built hightop?
My son (8 years old) and i do a bit of wild camping and flat water canoeing and like to get outdoors whenever possible.
Some pretty severe winds brought our last camping trip to an abrupt end and it got me thinking about Camper vans instead of the tent.
Having our own van ready to go at a moments notice, would be far easier than having to think about all the; organising, packing an unpacking of the camping gear.
I work away from home and thought the van might also double as accomodation while working.
The additional height of the LT28 would nodoubt be a bonus while we're inside the van but also make loading and unloading our canoe more difficult and i'm looking for tips here please.
If poss would like to be comfortable enough to tour around mainland UK with up to 4 people. Even if this means we have to use a tent if we opt for the T4.
Would also like a bike rack for the back but one that might also be able to carry a 125cc motorbike or our bicycles (but not all at the same time!)
Can you recommend some good reading material?
Which Conversion kit companies can you recommend?
The above list is a first attempt at getting answers and my list of questions will no doubt grow as the project progresses.
Many thanks for your help with this forst post.
Cheers
