I just bought my first VW ever; it's a 1984 LT31 minibus, which I'm aiming to turn into a camper. I've never done it before and I'm pretty excited about the prospect.
Anyway, I've already made a couple of mistakes (according to friends who know much more than I do about things like this, I paid far too much for the bus at £1595, but it only has 34k [genuine] and one owner from new). My second mistake was to buy a wood-burner that weighs an absolute tonne (but then I figured I'd be removing 7 seats so the difference wouldn't be too great). Trouble is, I tend to get carried away and not think things through before doing them.
As I said, never done it before, but I thought the best way would be to buy an old caravan for breaking - I figure as the LT is over 2m wide I could get a caravan style chair-table-bed combo in there.
If you have any ideas/hints/tips etc, I'd be happy to hear. Just so you know, I'm not looking to create a winnebago, I'm going for the more 'rustic' feel with a wood burner and perhaps a water-collection system if I can figure out how to rig it up.
