Just wondering if anyone can help me. I have an intermittent stalling problem with my water-cooled G reg 1989 T25. It's a fuel injected (Digijet) 2.1 litre (engine code DJ). It has duel fuel and runs on LPG as well as unleaded. When it starts up it idles low for a minute and then the revs pick up and it runs fine. However after it has been driven continuously for a while, the revs start to drop off when I put the clutch down as I come to a stop. It then stalls whenever I come to a stop. It seems to stall more often when I've got more electrics on (stereo, lights etc).
Once I stop driving and let it cool down for a bit it starts up and runs fine again, with no stalling until it has been driven for a while again. I notice that the positive terminal on the battery gets very hot - somebody left a piece of carpet on top of the battery and it melted the carpet all the way through. The warning light for the engine temp flashes continuously from start up, but the needle doesn't even register at minimum temp and never moves (pretty sure this is a wiring fault).
The other night whilst driving along, all the electrics cut out (all lights included!) and refused to go back on; then the engine cut out and refused to start again. After I left it for 10 mins or so, it started up fine (electrics too) and ran nicely all the way home. Well, bit of an essay there, but I'm very puzzled and there seem to be quite a few symptoms.
