View Full Version : cut-out and start problem

Hi,
I'm a brand new member and am having the following problem with my 2 litre T25 1982 Kamper. It has electric ignition. It keeps stalling and then turning over but not firing. After a while it may start and travel a few miles before doing it again. It is currently at the garage I had it recovered to but they don't seem to have a clue. They have replaced the ignition regulator pack and it broke down with the same problem as I was leaving(and after paying the bill!). They have now ordered a new coil but don't really know if that will work. I am getting frustrated as they have had it over a week and may have to tow it to another garage unless someone can help please. Thank you.

Get yourself onto the technical forum and archive at www.club80-90.co.uk before you fork out any more cash. You will find a veritable gold mine of advice there. :D

Thanks for the tip, however when I go onto that site I get a very rude window which appears and says: "oy, gerrof you thieveing gypsy b*******d!". I am unable to get any further, even to register. Obviously someone is jealous of their site. The van is actualy at another garage, who have an ex-VW mechanic, now and he think it is the Halls sender unit in the distributor. I have spent £96 on one from German and Sewdish(special inport from Germany) and have fingers crossed while I await the garage putting it in and testing it. Watch this space.
