Hi chaps, i've searched on here for advice on replacing sagging headlining, but can't find any. Has anyone got any? I've got a '79 Bay, and i'm new to campers. The roof is leaking (probably in through the skylight), and a lot of the headlining is sagging, with foam poking through. Whatever the stronger part of the structure inside is (fibre board?) it's bowing, and can be pushed back into place, but immediately pops back out again when not held. I'm guessing it all needs to come out and be rebuilt, but I haven't a scooby where to start. I'm in west sussex if anyone's daft enough to want to come take a look :)
Cheers, and a happy new year.

The liner is held taught by rods that bend across the van roof from edge to edge. These can be wooden or metal dependant on the vans age and type.
I'd imagine the damp has ruined everything and a strip and reinstall will be required.
New headlinings are easily available, but arent a simple job.

A few years I had a full roof liner scratch built and fitted by a trimmer for £120. I reckon I got a good deal. ;)

Cheers Clem. Well if someone said they'd do it for £120 now I'd bite their arm off...so to speak...well, i'd probably wait and let them do the roof first. I can see why it wouldn't be a simple job - especially when by the looks of it the cupboards will have to come out (the headlining disappears right over the top of them of course.)

So - should I be looking for a vehicle upholsterer? Are there any specialist campers ones that anyone knows about?
Cheers,
R

There is http://www.campershop.co.uk/ and http://www.customcoachtrimming.co.uk/ in the Midlands, the latter is who I used.

Where are you based?

I'm based in West Sussex. I've not had much luck googling up any local firms so i'll give those ones you've supplied a try.
Many thanks,
Rob
