Hi

Just bought a Bay window, had it for about 3 weeks now and it now just refuses to start. It used to start with no problems before, however it would often sputter a bit when you hit the gas, before delivering the power and stall in low gears, like approaching traffice lights. I thought it was just an ignition/misfiring issue. I am thinking that if the current non-starting was a misfiring issue then it should at least start/fire up before cutting out.

However now it just refuses to start. The starter motor seems fine, however nothing ignites!

My thoughts are now that it is a fuel problem rather than anything else, because the inline fuel filter is empty. Should this have some petrol in it at all times?

If so then I am guessing a line is blocked or the fuel pump has decided to crap out.

Any thoughts/suggestions gratefully appreciated.

Happy new Year All.

Mike

Difficult to say really.

Make sure the fuel is getting through.. which engine is it? The fuel pumps 'should' be mechanical, and generally dont simply fail, however, if its had an electric pump fitted, that may be the failure.

At this time of year, it may be worth cleaning and WD40'ing all the ignition parts and then re-trying.

I assume youre confident the fuel guage is accurate, and good fuel is in the tan?

Well I have deduced that I do in fact have fuel in the filter. Pulled off the fuel line and was instantly satisfied with the chill of petrol running over my hand. So at least that's okay.

I replaced the condenser, and the points and I will WD40 the bits. However my battery is now dead so I need to boost that first before trying it again.

thanks for your help
