Hi, I have a 1998 VWLT28 2.5TDI, which runs absolutly perfectly,.. once started. The trouble is sometimes it will start perfectly (when you hear a clunk and the glow plug light goes out), when you do not hear this clunk I am assuming that the heater plugs are not being heated as it takes quite a while turnin over before it fires, and when it does you get a large puff of smoke from the exhaust. I have replaced the five heater plugs to no avail. The fault is intermitant and quite strange I find. Anyone any ideas or similar experiences?
