HI

Im looking to get myself a camper (one that is good but might need a bit of repair work done to it). I have looked everywhere for a detailed buying guide but cannot find one...most ads say things like "rusting in the usual places" but what are the usual places?? (from photos and descriptions i can gather the doors and sills are the first to go?). What are the main things that need to be checked?

A big request i know (and prob was asked a thousand times on the old board)

Many Thanks

The best thing to do is take some that knows about campers with you when you visit one, failing that find a garage near by to do a check. You don t want to be seperated with your hard earned cash and end up with a right lemon! Take your time when visiting a van take ramps to see the underside for rust, a magnet to check for filler, NEVER go when its dark! Ask as many questions as you can think of. Get some mags which tell you about peoples own personal experiences this can be a mountain of knowledge. There are so many things which can go wrong with VW but if you like me you love them regardless! I cheated by buying an australian import bay they don t have as many rust problems as the english bays.
Hope this helps all i can say is take your time and good luck!!! ;)
