I am looking to spend up to £10,000 on a VW camper.

Main criteria is something reliable.

Now it appears that the late 60s/ and 70s stuff is demanding top money, nearly as much as 1990-1995 vw campers.

Is there a reason for this beyond aesthetic appeal? Surely the old stuff handles worse, will be more noisy, slower, less MPG Etc?

What should I be aiming for with £10,000? Personally I would prefer just to spend 6,000, but 10,000 max. It is only to be used in Europe at weekend by myself and girlfriend.

Thanks in advance :)

Hi Arthur,

You hit the nail on the head when you mention reasons as well as aestheticaly pleasing.

It takes the certainty out of the ultra reliable world we live in for a while.

How cool is that!!!!!!!!!

Older = Rarer = More Desireable = £££££

Same reason an antique chair costs more than an Ikea one ;)

Upto £10k? Id go for a nice imported late Westfalia Bay window myself. You'll get a nicely specced 2 litre model for that money. Good luck. :)
