Hi folks - I'm looking to sell my automatic 1986 American spec VW Westfalia.

The van has a 2.1 inj engine which was reconditioned in 1999, and 112K miles on the clock. It is left-hand drive, and has the extras which come with the American spec vehicles such as an automatic gearbox, power steering, air conditioning, electric windows, and alloy wheels. The previous owner had the suspension professionally lowered. We have had this van since 2000 and it has been extremely reliable in that time. It has 12 months MOT as of 13/6/05, feels really solid to drive, and the larger engine means that has faster acceleration than most T25s.

On the camping side, a built-in LPG tank supplies the cooker, fridge and heater. There was a problem with the inlet valve - getting parts proved problematic, and so I had a new tank fitted this week. The fridge can also be run of mains hookup or off the auxiliary battery. There is a large water tank and a sink with tap. The front seats both swivel round and there is a rock-and-roll bed. The roof pops up and there is a further double bed up there.

Many consider the American spec Westfalia to be the finest of the T25 VW conversions. They are built onto passenger vehicles rather than panel vans, so have superior insulation and factory fitted windows. There is very little rust for a vehicle of this age, and we had a couple of small spots professionally repaired earlier this year.

There are lots of pictures at http://homepages.inf.ed.ac.uk/joe/westfalia/ - and feel free to contact me for more information on joe.frankel@gmail.com or 07791 597386.

All the best, Joe.
