Can any body tell me how to check an alternater on a 2litre? Every time i go anywhere the battery dies on me leaving me with no lights and indicators.
What would the best solution be?

if you dont have a multi-tester and cannot check the ouptut...start the engine then remove the battery...switch a few electrical bits on (lights etc) and everything should continue to run ok...if it doesnt then your alternator may be duff

If you are unsure of how to check your alternater take it to a garage, Or a firm who can check your unit off the vehicle then you will know for sure-much better than being stranded.
Get a voltmeter and measure the current across the battery when its running.
It should be just under 14v?
If its not, its knackered.
Just go to a battery/tyre type place and theyll check it, usually, for free. In the hope of selling you a battery you dont need, of course. And while youre theyre theyll advise you that you also need tyres, an exhaust etc etc.
But, dont be too parochial in youre choice of battery outlet.
