I recently had a nightmare experience dragging the camper back from a 1500mile trip round ireland when i developed a major failure on the m62 near saddleworth moor. To cut a long story short it is rebuild time. the problem is i cant decide what to go for. currently a 1641, 009, stock cam etc. would like to get something a bit more .......sexy.. but can decide. opening this one up to the floor. obviously could go bigger bore but then machining etc ???? or go more stock size 1641 and go performace bit cool cams, carbs etc. I want something that going to do well on surf trips round ireland rather than down the Pod but sounds good and some aded performance would be great. Hope someone can help

cheers

1641 isnt the best on a van. Its a bored out 1600, so thinner barrell walls, which may get hot in a heavy van.

Machining for the 1776 etc isnt that dear .... with balancing, you should get change from £100, and that gives you the opportunity the throw a slightly cheeky cam into the equation. Twin carbs will give you a good performance boost for the money, and get a decent merged header system, too.
