About the Editor

David Eccles has been around VW buses since 1975, when, with wife Cee, he bought a 1967 Canterbury Pitt and spent a year travelling through Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Kashmir and India. This was sold in 1977 but by 1978 had been replaced with a 1967 walkthrough Devon Caravette, which they still own.

After being Head of English in an inner city comprehensive for many years David took early retirement in 2007, and now lives life in the slow lane. Prior to becoming editor of the magazine in 2001 he was active in the SSVC and involved in helping set up Brighton Breeze.

As well as editing the magazine, David has also written several bus books: The Split Screen Transporter and Microbus Specification Guide, The Inside Story (A Guide to stock Camping Conversions) and Inspirational Interiors (bespoke and custom layouts) and VW Bus and Pick Up: Special Models (special bodied, working commercials). With Cee he has also co-written Campervan Crazy, a travel and lifestyle tribute to the VW bus community.

David’s 67 Devon proudly leads out the convoy from the VW factory to the Expo site in Hanover for the 60th Anniversary Celebration in 2007.
